PROFILE
Influenced by a childhood interest in origami, my earliest jewelry was designed by bending and folding cut paper, and then metal shapes into three dimensional forms. Now, more than twenty years later I am still sawing, hammering, and hand bending precious metals into jewelry. My recent work involves translating forms observed in nature into wearable design. I work with that essential line or shape that captures a subject in the simplest, most elegant way. My goal is to develop graceful, well crafted designs that will bring many years of enjoyment to the wearer. A love of fine fabrics an the wish to add color to my work led to experiments combining metal and fabric. My Tapestry collection explores the sculptural possibilities of fabric within the framework of traditional precious metal jewelry. This allows me to add color in a fun, new way, not limited by the available sizes, shapes, or colors of gemstones.
